Hotmao seeks to bring Chairman Mao’s challenge towards the writers and artists of China “Let a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend!” onwards to the digital age.
Obviously Mao being Mao he wasn’t being strictly truthful about his little metaphor and when the flowers of China did start to blossom he ended up lopping their heads off. However we at Hotmao believe in the nobility of the original sentiment and we hope that we can answer the inimitable Chairman’s call to arms and provide a forum, nay the fertilizer, for such a bouquet of beautiful contentious ideals.
There are three of us tending our modest patch at the moment but we do feel that to get the garden blooming we would welcome all contributions to our venture whether it be political comment, satire, perhaps a short story, or even an entertaining video you might have seen on youtube.
