A Tale of Two Shitties

As much as Britain has always been a two party state the two years of Cameron’s Conservative leadership have pursued this to its logical PR, safety-first conclusion. Shut up, look nice and then wait for everyone to vote for you once they realise how inept the other guys are. Not the most exciting choice really.
On Cameron’s part this was acceptable when the Tories needed to be re-branded so people might actually listen to them, but there isn’t a great deal of point spending two years making yourself look pleasant if now you’re not going to say anything contentious.
So what now? In place of the rampant capitalism which precipitated this recession Gordon Brown is returning to the rampant socialism which precipitated the 1970’s recession and the Tories have said barely anything of note except to cry foul.
But wait. One Tory actually has. The booze-banning, bimbo-boshing, Bozza Johnson, Mayor of London. While Cameron, Osborne and crew are looking like a big bunch of fairies he is busy referring to Alistair Campbell as the devil and Gordon Brown as a drunk dowager flogging off the family silver.

Goody. At last an elected official from one of the two ruling elites has said something remotely contentious and entertaining. It’s just a bit of a shame that it is precisely for those qualities he was shipped over to the Mayor of London. Defamation and debate are just not very Parliament anymore.
