Outfascisting the fascists

Slightly scary image in today’s Guardian of police officers scouring a list of BNP members to oust members of their force affiliated to the party: http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2008/nov/19/police-bnp-far-right-list

Surely it is only in the most repressive regimes where membership of the wrong political party can mean you getting sacked? Also from hazy recollections of Hollywood films where wire-taps etc make evidence unadmissable, wasn’t the BNP list both confidential and stolen and therefore do the police have any right to be going through it as evidence? Finally, finally just because I saw this piece in the Guardian - this is the same paper which advocates a “no platform” policy towards the BNP in case the white working class might suddenly hear their siren call and go on a big racist splurge - These BNP guys regard Richard “if the Umbingi tribe wants to kill the Unbungo tribe what concern is it of ours” Littlejohn as a big leftie so it honestly might be better just to let them talk away. It really isn’t that surprising they can only find 13,000 members.
