Millions have signed a petition calling for galleries to reject his work, so far 400,000 people intend to reject his friend requests on Facebook, and one blogger wants to stab him in the head. All because of his installation where a tethered dog starved to death while Vargas played the national anthem backwards, simultaneously burning 175 tabs of crack.

The Códice Gallery in Nicaragua assured me that “Navidad” was allowed to roam free in the gallery and given a steady supply of dog biscuits until those lazy cabrons guarding the poor dog let him escape. Anyway even if after all the furore, Vargas does decide a bit of animal cruelty is the way to hit the headlines he will have a bit of a job.
